Custom Folding Knife Maker | Member of the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa
Born in Bethlehem in the Free State, I have lived most of my life in Roodepoort, Gauteng, which remains both my home and the place where I create my knives.
My journey into knife making began in 2009 with limited hand tools and a fascination with the craft. What started as a modest hobby gradually evolved into a well equipped workshop, built up over many years through persistence, experimentation and a constant desire to improve.
Although I appreciate the craftsmanship involved in all types of knives, I developed a particular passion for folding knives — especially liner-lock designs. I enjoy the challenge of bringing together precision mechanics, carefully selected materials and clean, purposeful design. For me, the smallest details matter: the action of the blade, the lockup, the fit and finish, the way materials complement one another and, ultimately, how the knife feels in the hand.
In 2016, I was honoured to be admitted to the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa, marking an important milestone in my development as a maker.
I don't see my knives simply as tools. Each one represents hours of design, machining, fitting, finishing and attention to detail. My goal is to create a knife that a collector can appreciate not only for what it does, but for how it was made and the character it carries.
From a handful of hand tools in 2009 to a dedicated workshop today, the journey has been one of continuous learning and refinement.
I make knives because I enjoy the craft — and because there is something special about taking a collection of materials and turning them into something that can last for generations.
